This is a very exciting time for Wauna Credit Union and the Clatskanie community as we watch our Clatskanie branch morph into a modern Financial Center! Our Clatskanie branch was built back in 1988, and has looked basically the same for all these years! Today, with financial services changing, we wanted to create a new style of branch that serves our member needs now.
Aside from the amazing physical changes shown in these photos, the entire way our branch works will also change! Very soon when you come to our Clatskanie branch you’ll be greeted by our Member Consultants. No longer will members have to speak to different staff for loans or for transactions, they will all be able to serve in every capacity. We will also be introducing “hip to hip” banking, so instead of being across the counter, you will see exactly what out staff is doing on the computer screen!
We are also expanding our administrative area on the second floor to better serve our growing organization. Currently, our back office staff is getting rather crowded together, and the time has come to redesign our floor space to better serve our departments.
We are very excited about these changes, and we welcome the community to join us on June 20th. We will unveil the first phase of our remodeled branch and then take on the other side and finish the second floor. Stay tuned for more details to come…
One of the more recognizable landmarks along Highway 30 through Clatskanie has been temporarily removed from its base along the roadside as part of the remodel project at the Clatskanie Branch of Wauna Credit Union. The popular time & temperature logo sign is now headed for re-manufacturing at Garrett Signs, Vancouver, Washington. When the re-purposed sign returns in several weeks, it will include an updated time & temperature module and display the newer logo of Wauna Credit Union, which features a beautiful bald eagle. The new sign is scheduled for installation in late June or early July.

Our month-long youth celebration is focused on the theme of “Credit Union Strong”.
Young people face a bewildering financial landscape in their immediate future—one where technology has made spending as easy as breathing and the cost of higher education continues to skyrocket. That’s why we believe it’s more important than ever to ensure our youth possess strong money management skills.
As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our core values include member education and social responsibility. We care about the community where we live and work, and the people in it. We look forward to watching the next generation grow and make it even better.
By instilling the habit of saving at a young age, offering positive encouragement, and providing financial education, we can prepare our community’s youngest members for brighter futures by helping them grow into financially capable adults. Credit union strong means having the money skills to embrace an awesome future, and leaving your community better than you found. That’s why we take our mission of helping youth so seriously.
Of course, we realize the biggest influence on anyone’s life is his or her parents. So if you want to start your kids on a path to financial strength, participating in Credit Union Youth Month is a good start.
Bring your financial fitness buffs into Wauna Credit Union and help them pump up their savings.

Here are a few photos from the 2015 Annual Meeting in Warrenton.
On Feb. 15th, while banks and government offices were enjoying a three day weekend, the entire staff of Wauna Credit Union met at the newly renovated Clatskanie Cultural Center in downtown Clatskanie for what Credit Unions call an “In-Service Day” or “All-Team Day”.
It is a day to recognize various employees for achievements, introduce new staff members to the entire team, do team building exercises, and learn from guest speakers. It’s an extra-special day for Wauna Credit Union, as our branches are spread over more than 100 miles, so we don’t get to see many of our team members on a regular basis.
This year, we learned about four types of personalities: Talkers, Doers, Supporters, and Controllers, and how each plays an important role in keeping our organization growing, and that each has a different way of thinking and reacting, and how to work with people of differing personality styles in a productive way.
We had a guest speaker, our CEO Robert gave a great talk as well. There were activities, team building games, a nice lunch, and even ice cream sandwiches!
In the end, working together, spending time as a full group, seeing people we often only talk to on the phone or via email, and renewing our commitment to the Credit Union Difference and our “People Helping People” philosophy was way batter than sleeping in on a Monday!
